Duke’s Course St Andrews grows blue grass

Scottish Flag on 11th Green at St Duke's CourseTo celebrate Homecoming Scotland 2009, The Duke’s Course St Andrews has spent the winter months developing two new strains of blue and white grass. The fruits of the greenkeeping staff’s labours were unveiled today in the shape of a Scottish saltire in all its glory on the 9th “green”!

Manager of The Duke’s, David Scott, commented, “The greenkeepers have put in a mammoth effort into growing exactly the right blue for the Scottish flag and their dedication has been rewarded! Whilst we pride ourselves in offering a magnificent championship course and great friendly service at The Duke’s, the chance to putt across the Scottish flag will indeed be a unique experience for all our members and visitors and and excellent April Fool’s Day joke.”

Nice.
