How tracking your scores can help your game
If you’re a keen golfer and you find yourself heading down to the range a couple of times a week to try and improve your game, then you probably suffer from the same condition as me…Whatdoiworkonitus.
You know what I mean. It’s when you know you’re going wrong but you still stand there like a pleb and fire 60 golf balls down the range with your driver, 7 iron and lob wedge with no real care for where they’re going or how you’re hitting it. If it goes miles, it’s good right? Wrong…
If you’re really looking to get a bit better, then it’s about time you started tracking your scores properly when you play. If you can look back at your round with detailed information then it gives you a brilliant insight into what you spend your time working on.
If you note things like what club you took off the tee and whether it hit the fairway or landed you in the crap nine times out of ten, you can make an informed decision as to whether you should be working on that part of your game. Simple.
Going through this process recently made me realise that I took two shots to hit the green from 100 yards out, almost every time I played. The next time I went for a practice, I stood a hundred yards out and hit 50 or 60 balls at the green and got a bit better at it. It saved me five shots on my next round!!
I wouldn’t normally advise you to visit a competitor’s site, but I’m going to recommend one that really is worth a visit. Golfshake.com is a great golf website that offers a load of things for the avid golfer. The bit that I like best though is their Score tracker.
It’s a great piece of software that allows you to put in all the data from each round you play. Over time, it builds up a picture of your golf game that clearly shows you where you need to improve. It’ll help you to better understand your game and get better, which is why I’m recommending it. The best thing about it is you can try it out for free by signing up at the site.
I love stuff like this, anything that really does help people to get better is good news. I’d like to see them offer it totally for free in the future but these things aren’t free to build of course.
Anyway, have a look if you like, it might help you knock a few shots off your next round.
