Northern Trust Open Betting Tips
The Northern Trust Open gets underway tomorrow at The Riviera Country Club and it’s going to be a fantastic tournament by all accounts. Betting wise, it’s a difficult one to call but we’re going to give it go as we’re feeling pretty flush after winning a last minute bet last week!
The obvious ones are the usual candidates to be honest. Phil Mickelson is probably at the top of that tree having won here twice in the last three years. He’s still a bit rusty though so you can’t count on it. He’s currently at 13/2 on Betfair.com which I think is a waste of money at this early stage.
Steve Stricker at odds of 14/1 could be worth a punt like always. He finished in second place last year and has started 2010 well with a tied tenth place and a third place so far this season. Stricker is always a good bet in my book so definitely worth a couple of quid.
Who else is making the grade at the moment though? Padraig Harrington could do it of course but I’m not sure he’s there yet this season. At 26/1 though it’s a nice little bet.
Jim Furyk will no doubt get away quickly and his odds will drop so it could be worth £5 on him at 26/1 with a view to laying him off on Saturday or Sunday.
Of course, you just can’t miss out Robert Allenby who has had an awesome start to the season. He’s on top form and I think he could win it. I don’t know why, I just feel it my bones and that’s enough for me. He’s at 21/1 on Betfair.com at the moment which is a great price for a player that’s doing so well at the moment.
So that pretty much sums it up for me – a fiver on Furyk to lay off, fiver on Allenby to win and my wildcard? Well, I’m going for Ryo Ishikawa at 189/1 because I like boy. Why not? I think £2 will do it though.
Same as always, there’s some great deals available at Betfair.com. If you haven’t used it, check it out it’s a great site that gives you a free £25 bet the first time you sign in and regularly has free bet promotions running that you can take advantage of.
Good luck Fairway Finders…and don’t forget to let us know how you got on!
