Prince’s Golf Club to Co-Host 2013 British Amateur Championship
Troon Golf has today announced that Prince’s Golf Club, one of its managed venues has been selected by the R&A to co-host the 2013 British Amateur Championship along with Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club.
Prince’s Golf Club has an impressive history including hosting the joined Troon Golf’s EMEA Portfolio in 2009 boasting an impressive history which includes hosting the 1932 Open Championship, won by the legendary Gene Sarazen, and its credentials as a championship venue have once again been recognised with it being selected to co-host the 2013 Amateur Championship.

The course is steeped in history and the course layout and challenge it presents has withstood the test of time. We are looking forward to welcoming some of the best amateur players in the game and the R&A for what will be a great Championship,” commented Michael Lovett, General Manager Prince’s Golf Club.
Prince’s Golf Club will co-host the 2013 Amateur Championship with its close neighbour, Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club. The 2013 event will be the second time Prince’s Golf Club has hosted the Amateur Championship, having also co-hosted the 2006 Amateur Championship with Royal St. Georges Golf Club, when Frenchman Julien Guerrier lifted one of world golf’s most coveted prizes.
The Amateur Championship is one of the oldest and most prestigious championships in world golf, having first been held in 1885. Previous winners include, Bobby Jones, Gene Sarazen and more recently José María Olazábal and Sergio Garcia. It’s a fantastic testing ground for tomorrow’s stars.
In addition to co-hosting the 2013 Amateur Championship, Prince’s Golf Club will also play host to Local Final Qualifying for the 2011 Open Championship, which will be held at Royal St. George’s Golf Club. In preparation, the course is currently undergoing some modifications that will see the historic links course provide a stern test for some of the world’s finest amateurs and professionals.
The 118th Amateur Championship will take place on 17 – 22 June 2013.
