Seve – I’ll play in the British Open next year!
In a shock announcement, golf legend Severiano Ballesteros says he’ll play in next year’s British Open at St Andrews.
In an interview on the BBC this morning, he told Gary Lineker that he’s been watching the Open with great admiration for Tom Watson and believes that Tom can do it today if he makes a good start.
Watching Tom, Seve decided that if Tom Watson can do it, so can he and his already been down the driving range this morning hitting golf balls in preparation. If Seve keeps to his word, it will be quite simply the greatest comeback in sporting history and something the world would love to see.
The man has been through a hellish time recovering from his brain tumor but is now feeling great and feels up to the challenge. What an epic event next year will be if that happens, it’s superb news from the Spaniard.
Today’s action gets underway in just a few minutes and Tom Watson starts the day in the lead. The weather is looking blustery so this years Open could go to anyone.
