Turnberry offers tee-times after The Open but it’s not cheap!
Turnberry, host to the 138th Open Championship is offering a number of exclusive tee times to play its legendary Alisa course after The Open but by god, you’ll pay for it!
The unrestricted tees times (seven days a week) on the Ailsa course will be available for play during August and can be purchased at the Turnberry Resort Exhibition stand in the merchandise area at The Open Championship from 13 to 19 July.
A limited number of times per day are on offer at an exceptionally steep rate of £750 per tee time!! It’s a saving of £90 off the retail price apparently…phew!! I hope you’ve got deep pockets!
Luckily, there will also be additional sunset times available costing a far more reasonable £90 per person from the earlier time of 4.00pm in August rather than the usual 5.00pm start time. All tee times will be sold on a first come first basis and numbers are restricted.
I’ve played Turnberry and I must say, it’s epic. If there’s any way you can stretch to it, I’d do it, it’s the finest course I’ve ever played by a long way and nothing can beat that Turnberry sunset I can tell you.
Failing that, you can enter a competition to win a four ball on the Ailsa Course by visitng the Turnberry Resort Exhibition Stand. They’re also offering a free dinner at the Tappie Toorie restaurant in the Clubhouse. The restaurant has outstanding views over the opening and closing holes of both the Ailsa and the Kintyre courses and features hearty dishes including the very best grills, pastas and burgers.
The Ailsa course is rightly ranked as Britain’s number one golf course and is consistently rated within the world’s best. The course has been the venue for The Open three times before – in 1977, 1986 and 1994 and played host to the epic ‘Duel in the Sun’ between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson in 1977.
Turnberry is undergoing a multi million pound refurbishment by new owners Leisurecorp which will be unveiled on 21 July following The Open Championship. The hotel will reopen as part of Starwood’s acclaimed Luxury Collection portfolio, which includes more than 70 of the world’s finest hotels in more than 30 countries worldwide.

[...] in my opinion and that’s what I love about Turnberry. OK, it’s hellishly expensive at £750 for a four ball but not inaccessible. You can save up with your pals and go and play it as many times as you like [...]
