VPAR returns to record every shot at the International Pairs
Players at this year’s International Pairs competition will again have the use of the latest cutting-edge technology to keep track of their game with innovative scoring company VPAR.
Each player who makes the UK or world finals will be given a handheld device which will allow them to score their round. After each hole the system will beam the information to the leader boards and officials leaving them in no doubt where they are standing in the competition.
The UK final is due to be held at De Vere’s Wychwood Park in Cheshire and the world final at The Carrick on Loch Lomond one month later.
The technology was used for the first time by International Pairs at last year’s world final at Carnoustie and managing director Ross Honey believes the continued presence of VPAR will add an extra dimension to the finals.
Honey said: “International Pairs prides itself on creating a real professional tournament atmosphere for amateurs and we are very excited at having VPAR on board for 2010.
The VPAR scoring system means that, whether out on the course or in the clubhouse, the leaderboards will be updated instantly which increases the realism, excitement and pressure for everyone taking part. VPAR also enables spectators from all over the world to follow the players’ progress live online.”
VPAR ran an impressive 175 events last year including everything from pro-ams to the biggest corporate golf day in Europe. The company joins an impressive list of sponsors including the De Vere Hotel Group, Glenmuir Golf Clothing and Excel Golf Products.
Jason Stoop, VPAR managing director, said: “We are proud to be supporting International Pairs for a second year running. It’s a fantastic tournament and extremely competitive so is a great fit for VPAR.”
Eighteen pairs from across the UK, who qualify at a series of regional finals, will gather at Wychwood Park from September 26-27 to compete for the chance to pit their wits against players from across the globe in the 36-hole world final at The Carrick on Loch Lomond on October 6-8.
Last year’s world final saw competitors from 20 countries including South Africa, America, Portugal and Antigua and Barbuda do battle at Carnoustie, with Canadian teenagers Marilyne Cadieux and Saby Dagenais creating history by becoming the first female winners of the event.
