What goes on at a TEEforeTWO golf Dating event? Is it love?
Lots of my friends play golf, all to varying degrees of success. Some are single and some are married but one thing they have in common is a love for excellent golf courses. Unfortunately though, we very rarely play any of them.
The trouble is that if your friends are anything like mine, then the expression “We couldn’t organise a booze-up in a brewery” springs immediately to mind.
It’s almost impossible to arrange a couple of days where we can all get away for a round of golf somewhere nice. Either our partners won’t allow it to happen, the money isn’t there or “enter another host of excuses which all apply in this situation.” You know how it is.
Of course it’s different for those of my friends who are single. They have free rein to do whatever they want, whenever they want but it doesn’t help them in this scenario. I mean, who wants to book and play a round at The Belfry (or somewhere equally nice) on their own? Not many I’m sure.
So, whilst playing in a golf day recently organised by golf dating company TEEforeTWO.co.uk, it suddenly struck me that the real selling point of the dating company was, in fact not what you would expect at all.
Just like you would imagine, the website offers an excellent place where you can go and search for love. The unique twist being that everyone on the site already plays golf giving you the perfect ice-breaker at your first, “oh so tense” meeting.
In my opinion though, that’s not the most attractive part of the TEEforeTWO offering. The real beauty in the way they do things is in the events they organise and by golly do they organise some good ones!
So far this year, the company has already organised 20 events at the UK’s very best golf courses for people to meet-up and get to know each other better. When I say the very best, I really mean it. The Berkshire, New Zealand Club, The Belfry and Turnberry are all on the list.
When you think about it, it’s brilliant, both for the company and its members. You could almost view it like a really big golf society that only plays the very best courses. Courses you simply wouldn’t be able to play if it weren’t for TEEforeTWO’s involvement. Of course it has the added bonus that you might just meet-up with someone you really like and I think that’s a fantastic proposition.
Being able to play these courses and be part of a great gang of people is worth the membership money alone. The fact that you really could find your sweetheart along the way is an added bonus.
Owners Janet Rampton and Michael Rayment are just superb. They’re not pushy or in your face but friendly and always willing to have a chat or introduce you to someone you might like without fuss. In fact, I’d go as far as to say they were brilliant at it. They manage to strike the fine line that is to help people get together without being intrusive.
I played with a couple who had met through TEEforeTWO at the golf day I recently played in at The Berkshire in Ascot. Without doubt, the part they enjoyed the most was coming on the golf days, even after they weren’t looking anymore which is a great advert for the company.
It’s such a great way to get to know someone when you think about it. There’s no awkwardness in meeting someone on a golf course and it gives you enough time to get the measure of someone, enough time to relax into being who you really are and enough time to put yourself across how you want to rather than being panicked around a dinner table. The pressure is off.
If you really don’t get on with someone, you can just talk to the other two playing partners in the group and still enjoy the fantastic course you’re playing without there being embarrassing silences.
I know the company is first and foremost a golf dating website but saying it’s a dating website just doesn’t do the company justice in my opinion. It’s a golf dating society, a golf events company, a golf holiday company, a bloody good time company. It’s all of things and is a super prospect for any single golfers out there looking for some fun.
OK, you might not meet Mr or Mrs Right – I mean who knows what’s round the corner? No one can promise you that for any money. You can however guarantee that your money is well spent with TEEforeTWO, you’re sure to get something from it even if it’s just a group of great golfing mates. I’d recommend it to anyone.
The site does suffer somewhat from a lack of younger people at the moment, particularly ages 25 to 35 but that is to be expected as most young men and women golfers that age are too busy working to play golf. The site is also still in its infancy and I’m sure as it gets bigger, the age ranges will expand both ways. The majority of TEEforeTWO clients I’ve met ranged from 35 to around 60 in equal measure.
Currently, I have three single 30/31 year old male friends whom this would be ideal for. I’ll keep on at them to give the site a go I think.
It would be criminal of me not to mention the reason I was invited to Ascot golf day in the first place which was a fund raising event for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The event, organised by TEEforeTWO and The Berkshire golf club raised thousands of pounds for the trust which was fantastic to be part of.
The way that TEEforeTWO organise their events and how they manage to raise so much money for various charities is just brilliant and something I’m sure they’ll be rewarded for in due course. If you’re into golf and single and want to have some real fun I can’t think of anywhere better to spend your money.
If I’m being honest, I’m left feeling quite jealous that I can’t join-up myself just so I can go on the golf days. I might have to fake a split with my wife and both join TEEforeTWO to qualify. Hmmm…
